A letter to my funny valentine Link in bio . . . #valentinesday #livelaughlove
I wish to invoke the protection of the Holy Family of Nazareth…it is therefore the prototype and example for all Christian families…St. Joseph was a “just man”…may he always guard, protect and enlighten families. May the Virgin Mary, who is the Mother of the Church, also be the Mother of “the Church of the home”…May Christ the Lord, the Universal King, the King of Families, be present in every Christian home as He was at Cana, bestowing light, joy, serenity, and strength. Pope St. John Paul II . . . #winsomewednesday #monthoftheHolyFamily
February started with writers block, moved into non-overlapping nap territory and in between threw in a bout of food poisoning. But I finally finished my post in honor of the Month of the Holy Family! The link is up in my bio. . . . #lovewhatmatters #totalwhineblog
We’ve been watching a fair share of Mr. Rogers around here, and I’ve wondered at why I’m captivated as an adult by his simple style and methods of communicating. Last night we watched he biodoc Won’t You Be My Neighbor? and I learned about a man whose life’s passion was reverencing the importance and the nature of childhood, treating every person with dignity and love simply because they were unique creations of God, a message that he carefully infused into every minute of his program. I found myself refreshed, able to see my kids in a whole new light, wanting to treasure their simplicity even when its frustrating or inconvenient. I realized that Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood is as much for adults as it is for children because we need that reminder. . . . Here’s a question we should ask ourselves daily: Do I treat those whom God entrusted to me within my own family with dignity and love, cognizant of their importance because of their uniqueness? Do I treasure my children in their silliness, brokenness, and happiness, just as God treasures me? If not, why should I ever expect to find beyond my own home veneration of the dignity of life? #theresonlyoneyou #lovewhatmatters #childhoodmatters
While it must be recognized that women have the same right as men to perform various public functions, society must be structured in such a way that wives and mothers are not in practice compelled to work outside the home, and that their families can live and prosper in a dignified way even when they themselves devote their full time to their own family. Pope St. John Paul II . . . It was noted in #SOTU last night that more women are serving in Congress and in the workforce than ever before. I say so what. Until women are valued and revered for their most sacred, unique and awesome role, unless love is once again prized over accomplishments, all the work in the world will not matter. #winsomewednesday #lovewhatmatters
Here’s a pic of us, fresh-face and pre-kid, off to dance at the Candlemas Ball. I never knew what Candlemas was until this ball, but it’s a beautiful feast day with lovely traditions celebrating the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. I’ve put a link in my bio for more info. Happy Candlemas!!!
